War Horse

War. One of the worst things in this world is war. Horses. Imagine what life would be like without horses. War horses. No transportation for soilders withought war horses. War Horse is that book. Joey is a thoroughbred shire horse with a willing soul to work and please. But he is very instinctive. He can tell what you are about to do just by your presence, voice, or the look on your face. Being seperated by his mother at only a few weeks old at a horse auction, he has already been scared for life. Thats not the worst of it though. The man who bought Joey is a creul man, at least, when he's sober. But when he's drunk, he's even worse. He bought Joey when he was drunk, tied him to a truck, and drove the truck home so when they arrived at what was to be Joey's new home, his skin was raw from where the halter had pulled at him whenever they made a turn, and he was covered in sweat. He was put in the stable and let alone for no less then five minutes when he heard a boy running toward him. But he was not scared when Albert pet him, washed him down, fed him, watered him, and spoke to him. Albert was different. Albert was his master. A couple of years after Joey had been brought to the farm, Joey was in his stall when he heard feet coming toward him. By the way he heard the feet carry themselves, the person approaching was nervous, and when Albert's father peeked his head over Joey's stall, so was Joey. But when Albert's father spoke, it was a calm tone, like Alberts. A sorry tone, like he was almost crying. When Albert's father led Joey to the center of town and Captian Nicholls approached with fourty pounds [$80 in english money] in hand, Joey was never to be seen by Albert, or his father again. Now Joey, was a war horse. SOund interesting? Wait till you read the book! Joey's story continues as he marches through war. Will he ever see Albert or his father again, if he even survives war?
